Iran to help Gazans through Egypt

A senior Iranian diplomat has expressed Tehran’s readiness to cooperate with Egypt to help the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a meeting between the Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the visiting Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for the Middle East and North African Affairs Ali Asghar Mohammadi, in Cairo, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Palestine, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossam Zaki said.
Aboul Gheit stated that Cairo welcomes cooperation between Egypt’s Red Cross and Iran and intends to exert appropriate control over its border with Palestine, Zaki added.
He further said that Mohammadi praised the decision by Egyptian authorities to allow the Palestinian people to enter Egypt to help them provide for their basic needs.
